Privacy Policy — Recipe Book
Last updated: September 7, 2026
Overview
The short version
Recipe Book (cloud.lazarev.cookbook) collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no way to do either.
The app does not request the INTERNET permission. That is not a promise about intentions — it is a restriction Android enforces. Without that permission the app cannot open a network connection at all, so there is no server to send anything to, and no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting service embedded in it.
Anyone can check this on the installed package:
aapt2 dump permissions app-release.apk | grep INTERNET # returns nothingWhat the app stores, and where
Everything stays in the app's private storage on your device:
- the recipes that ship with the app, and any you add or edit
- your favourites, your notes, and how many times you have cooked something
- your weekly menu, shopping list, and pantry
- your settings: language, theme, text size
None of it is transmitted anywhere. No account is required, and none exists.
Permissions, and what each is for
- Camera
- Reading a recipe QR code, only while the scanner screen is open. The image is decoded on the device and is never stored or sent.
- Notifications
- Showing the cooking timer's countdown and its alert.
- Vibration
- The cooking timer's alert.
- Foreground service
- Keeping a running cooking timer alive while the app is in the background.
- Exact alarm
- Making sure a cooking timer goes off at the right moment even if the app has been closed.
The app also asks you to pick a folder if you turn on automatic backups. It writes only into the folder you chose, and nowhere else.
Sharing a recipe
When you share a recipe — as a QR code, a file, an image or plain text — that happens entirely between you and whoever you hand it to, through Android's own share sheet or a camera pointed at a screen. Your private notes, favourites and cooking history are removed before a recipe is shared. Nothing passes through us, because there is no "us" in the path.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, of any age.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored. If you saved backup files yourself, those are ordinary files in a folder you chose, and you delete them like any other file.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it.
